Triveda Fine Arts Pvt Ltd’s third auction of Indian old and contemporary art here Feb 27, which is aimed at collecting funds for poor children’s education, will include masters as well as works from an art camp held in Jaipur with the Bhoruka Charitable Trust.
The 100 odd lots have a few rare works, including a Kishengarh miniature of Radha. The mixed media on paper is estimated at an exciting price of Rs.300,000-500,000.
Equally fascinating is a gorgeous Tanjore painting of a maharaja and maharani. The mixed media on board is more like a gold ensemble which is estimated at an appreciable Rs.800,000-1,000,000.
Among old masters of the Bengal School is an enticing Nandalal Bose watercolour, heightened with body colour on paper and estimated at Rs.800,000-1,000,000.
‘Reserves for works are kept at realistic levels,’ said Triveda director Nina Pillai who has culled and curated the show herself.
‘Good works at great prices is what Triveda promises its clients,’ added Pillai, who has been an art collector for about 20 years.
Among the modern masters, the best is a brilliantly seductive F.N. Souza called ‘Lovers’. Rare for its conception and composition, this mixed media on canvas is a passionate blue work of lovers under water and is estimated at Rs.2,500,000-3,000,000. Another delightful highlight is Raza’s 2002 oil on canvas ‘Tree’, which is a hue of shades and is estimated at Rs.4,500,000-5,000,000.
Equally fetching is Kishen Khanna’s early work ‘Woman on Lazy Afternoon’, an oil on canvas that is estimated at Rs.2,500,000-2,800,000. Abstract master Ram Kumar’s ‘Varanasi’ is estimated at Rs.5,200,000-5,700,000.
