Born amidst the rustic charm of Mudigonda town in Khammam district, Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1972, Ravi K is an contemporary Indian artist whose journey is deeply intertwined with the colors and rhythms of Indian art. His upbringing in an agricultural family surrounded by untouched, verdant landscapes imprinted a lasting connection between nature and my artistic soul.
The myriad hues of India’s natural beauty, the simplicity of rural life, and the daily rituals of farmers became the wellspring of inspiration for my artistic odyssey. The graceful sway of village belles, their laughter, and the cascade of their lustrous hair created an indelible impression, infusing my work with a sense of nostalgia and cultural richness.
Artist says – My artistic journey commenced during my formative years as a student. My passion for art eclipsed all else, leading me to choose the path of an artist. After completing my school education, I embarked on a journey of artistic exploration. Although I initially pursued a degree in Science, the irresistible allure of art compelled me to redirect my course.
I embarked on my formal artistic education at Andhra University, where I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) from 1993 to 1997. This period marked the beginning of my artistic evolution as I delved deeper into the techniques, philosophies, and rich traditions of Indian art.
My quest for artistic enlightenment led me to Kala Bhavan, Viswa Bharati University in Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. Here, I dedicated two pivotal years, from 1997 to 1999, to earn a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) in painting. The cultural mosaic of Santiniketan, with its illustrious artistic heritage and visionary leaders like Rabindranath Tagore, nurtured my creativity and broadened my horizons.
My artistic journey is a tribute to the essence of Modern Indian Paintings, a fusion of my rural roots with the contemporary expressions that define Indian art today. Each brushstroke, every canvas, is a testament to my love for the Indian landscape, its people, and its rich artistic traditions. My art seeks to capture the essence of India’s timeless beauty, its vibrant culture, and the profound connection between humanity and nature.
In a world that constantly evolves, my art remains grounded in the soil of India, drawing from the wellsprings of its past to paint the canvas of its future.
